Additional Tri-Fold or Heavy Wing Liners may be added to increase absorbency and prevent leaks. A single Pad will get you through a full day of your cycle, provided that the Liner is changed before soaking through. Liners will last approximately as long per use as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon.

    Construction
Pad Base: 2 Layer, 100% cotton flannel base topped with an absorbent panel made of 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece, and 1 layer of ultra-thin nylon to minimize soaking through. Nickel-free, Silver-plated brass single snap fastening. Click here to see how our pads are constructed.
Liner Insert: 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece.

    Performance
A single Pad will get you through an entire day of your cycle; just change your Liner as needed. Liners will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Unlike most disposable pads, Lunapads do not contain any added chemicals, gels, or super absorbent polymers. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing the Liner insert as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of the Liners significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.
Lunapads will last upwards of 5 years with recommended usage and care.

Lunapads can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended (but not always necessary) particularly if the pads are heavily saturated. Please note that if Lunapads are being soaked, soaking water must be changed daily.

We recommend natural cleaning products such as Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained pads. Heavily stained pads may also benefit from occasional machine wash and dry in hot settings or air drying in direct sunlight.

Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners to clean Lunapads, as this will decrease the performance of the products and is harmful to the environment.

Wrap the Pad around the gusset of your underwear and close the snap to secure. The fleece panel should be facing up (towards your body on the inside of the panty), as this is the most absorbent part of the pad. Incorrect placement may result in reduced comfort and performance of the Pad.

Liners can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the ric-rac bands on the Pad. Multiple Liners may be used for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed as desired by removing and replacing the Liner(s). Please note that Liners are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

    1. Fantastic! Review by Lavender
      Quality

I originally purchased the overnight Lunapads as a ā€œjust in caseā€ item. I love the diva cup, but thought it was wise to have some of these on hand just in case. I am so glad I did. I have been having kidney issues and encountering problems with mild incontinence. I am so glad I purchased these. They are soft, don't leave that nasty diaper rash feeling, or sweat. When you pick one out for the day it really boosts your mood to have the different fabric choices. Just knowing that the Heavy Pad is there really eases my worries. Thank you so much Lunapads! 2. The best of the bunch. Love the wings; but there is also an alternative. Review by Rienne
      Quality

These are my favourite of the Lunapads. They are great for the heavy flow at the beginning of the cycle, and are perfect for overnights. The hourglass shape on both ends is very smart. I actually also like the winged liners: the wing that snaps around the panties protects them, and the wings on the wing liner protect you from leakage beyond the sides of the pad in the middle. In case you haven't yet tried them, the heavy liners also available with these heavy pads 1) do not have wings (for any who don't appreciate them), 2) are better for heavy flow, and 3) are excellent for nighttime, when you might want to sleep rather than change a thin liner during the night. The heavy liner folds three times, so it absorbs 3X what the typical liner insert does. I sometimes get the benefit of both by putting the winged liner under the three-fold heavy liner for backup.

      I would like:
      1) If the ric-rac on all pads was black or another dark colour so that staining on it is not distracting.
      2) If there were black & more dark colourful organic pad options.
      3) If I could rationalize the outlay for buying more of these.
The heavy pads lose a star for these right now. (Posted on 1/17/12)

    3. great idea but need some improvement Review by Barb
      Quality

Love the luna pads 14" length but wish they were slightly wider so that crotch of pantie is not crunched up when clipped together as this makes them prone to folding and pad and holder flopping foreward....another 1/2-3/4 inch on the wing where snaps are would help immensely.
Also the wing pads themselves are excellent accept I wish they too were slightly longer wings that would also have snaps on to hold in place...as it is I am having to use big diaper pins to hold pads wings together so it stays in place...these changes would not cost much at your end and certainly would improve fit and wearability.
Otherwise an excellent product... Thanx (Posted on 1/16/12)

    4. Love the idea -- not happy with the liners Review by Ace
      Quality

I wish I wish I wish that the liner did NOT have the wings -- these pads would be perfect if the liners didn't have wings. The wings don't appear on the other liners, I'm not sure why they're on these ones?

The wings on the liners end up wicking the stain around to my panties and clothes -- not ideal, to say the least!

I love the regular-sized pads, but for these overnight / heavy-day pads, I'm afraid I'm going to go to the competitor, whose liners don't have wings. (Posted on 12/16/11)

    5. Large and in charge Review by Miss K
      Quality

I purchased one of these recently (I’ve been using Lunapads in general for a while now). It's actually quite large compared to the others. I personally find this one is great for overnight wear or for lounging at home in your 'comfy clothes'. Definitely worth having at LEAST one of these in your lunapads collection! (Posted on 9/18/11)

    6. my favorite Lunapads! Review by basbleu
      Quality

These are just the thing for heavy days and especially heavy nights. They are SO much more comfortable than disposable pads, and as others say, there's no leakage from tossing and turning at night.

I do find that with these, I have to make sure the liner is positioned correctly, because it is prone to folding. (Posted on 8/29/11)

    7. Best change I've ever made! Review by Amy Boulanger
      Quality

They are comfortable, clean, absorbent, personal and fun! I am the nervous type who is always checking my butt when I walk by anything with a reflection! I wore the big size pads to make sure I never leaked. They were like diapers. I dreaded that time of month. I decided to make myself feel secure I'd get the big size lunapad when I made the switch. They are WAY more absorbent and I have never leaked! No more diaper, no more checking butt! (Posted on 7/9/11)

    8. Love them Review by Laura D
      Quality

These are wonderful for overnight. They are both long enough and thick enough to prevent leaks without the need for any sort of backup protection (like a Diva cup). I can't wait to buy a few more of these. (Posted on 7/7/11)

    9. Fantastic! Review by Jill
      Quality

I am sooo glad that I came across lunapads! I have always had very heavy flows which means ruined underwear and sheets due to leakage. The lunapads brand are not only super comfy, soft and great for the environment, but they are also the only pad I have found to be long enough to wear overnight with no accidents. LOVE IT! I have recommended them to many of my friends. Thanks Lunapads. (Posted on 2/5/11)

    10. No Leaks! Review by Beth
      Quality

Unlike disposable pads that leak, don't breathe, and are uncomfortable these are amazing! No matter how much I toss and turn, I can trust this heavy pad to keep me covered. And they are so comfortable! (Posted on 2/5/11)

    11. All Around Awesome Review by Mimi
      Quality

I can't count how many pairs of underwear my daughter has ruined since starting her cycle. All of them at night. This pad is *perfect* for her because it doesn't matter how heavy her flow, or how much she tosses and turns, she hasn't ruined a pair of underwear since starting to use this pad! We love our lunapads!! (Posted on 2/5/11)
