The DivaCup
Regular Price: US$ 39.99
Special Price: US$ 34.99
Recommended For: Average Flow, Heavy Flow, Active
Includes 1 DivaCup, storage pouch, pin, and complete instructions for use and care. The DivaCup is an internally worn reusable silicone menstrual cup and fantastic alternative to tampons. The DivaCup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting for use for another 12 hours. It can be used for light or moderate flows and is emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows. Perfect for overnight use, and a great alternative to tampons!
Choose SIZE 1 if you are under 30 years old and have never delivered vaginally or by caesarean section. SIZE 2 is recommended if you are older than 30 or have delivered vaginally or by c-section.
Construction: The DivaCup is made of a high quality, soft healthcare grade silicone that starts as a liquid. The molecules are then bound together (or vulcanized) with very high heat to form a solid stable piece of silicone (similar to the feel of soft rubber). The DivaCup is cured after production in an oven at a very high temperature to make sure all the molecules are bound and “chain linked” together. Since the end product is a solid material yet flexible and durable, there is no possibility for anything to leak into the body (no leaching). This form of silicone is odorless, is latex-free, plastic-free and BPA-free. It has been used safely in healthcare applications for over 50 years.
The FDA has cleared The DivaCup for use by the FDA for use as feminine hygiene protection. It also holds a current Health Canada medical device license.
Performance:The DivaCup can be worn for up to 12 hours before emptying, washing and reinserting for use for another 12 hours. It can be used for light or moderate flows and is emptied more often to accommodate heavy flows. Perfect for overnight use. It is inserted in the vagina and sits at the lower base of the vaginal canal. It is worn internally, yet because it is soft and smooth, it cannot be felt nor will it leak when inserted properly.
The DivaCup should be thoroughly cleaned at least twice a day (do not wear continuously for longer than 12 hours at a time.) Washing the cup in mild soap and warm water provides sufficient cleansing. The best cleaning agent to use is The DivaWash. We have formulated it as a pH balanced wash that is best for the cup and you, because it does not leave residue.
Remember to wash your hands before inserting and removing your DivaCup.
The DivaCup’s top quality, healthcare grade silicone can tolerate high temperatures. At the end of each cycle The DivaCup should be washed and rinsed as specified and then submerged in an open pan of boiling water (continuous rolling boil) for twenty (20) minutes. Do not leave the boiling pot unattended and use enough water so that the pan does not boil dry.
Do not use vinegar, tea tree oil, scented soap, antibacterial soap, hydrogen peroxide, bleach, rubbing alcohol or harsh chemicals as these may damage the silicone and ruin the cup. We do not recommend cleaning The DivaCup in the dishwasher because chemicals, detergents and residue from previous dishwashing could harm the cup.
After use and proper cleaning, the cup must be placed in a storage that allows for air flow. The DivaCup comes with its own drawstring cotton pouch.
The four holes under the rim of the DivaCup are of vital importance. They create the seal that secures the cup in place. If the holes need extra cleaning, we suggest that you fill the cup with warm water. Cover the top with your palm, sealing it up. Turn it upside down (still sealed by your palm) and then, apply pressure to the sides of The DivaCup pushing the water out through the sides. This removes residue left in the holes. To clean the stem and/or holes, you can also soak the cup in warm water for a few minutes then use a soft toothbrush (specifically designated only for the cup) for this. You can use a toothpick (discarding after use), as well. We do not suggest a pin as it may cause damage to the cup.
On your first trial with The DivaCup, make sure you are relaxed and have time to read the User Guide thoroughly. Insertion and removal will only take a few seconds once you master the technique.

The Diva Cup is amazing! It is really easy to use, reliable, comfortable, and worry free - what more could you want! Oh is it good for the environment, money saving, and healthy for you? It sure is! The Diva Cup gets two thumbs up here! (Posted on 1/23/12)
So I have just finished my first cycle using the Diva Cup. I have to say that it is by far the best product I have ever used, a wise investment! I experience no difficulty inserting it or getting it to pop open, no discomfort at all and absolutely no leakage, I didn’t even need a back up! I recommend it to all women!!! (Posted on 1/20/12)
So, I read the reviews, and despite never being comfortable with tampons, decided to give the DivaCup an honest try.... I'm only sorry I waited so long!! This is wonderful, so much easier to use than a tampon with none of the dry, scratchy side effects. And it's much more pleasant than bulky pads which would irritate my skin down there after 2 or 3 days. I was anticipating having a difficult time getting it into position correctly, but I was able to get it on the first try - I can't even feel that it's there! And the best part, not a single leak, not one drop. Awesome amazing product - I'm ordering one to send to my sister right now!!! Thanks DivaCup, such a liberating and environmentally conscientious product, I'll be converting every woman I know :) (Posted on 1/3/12)
Since I'm a teenager, I go to school 5 days a week, for 7 hours. Periods are annoying. At our school, if you go to the bathroom with a purse, your backpack, a bag, anything, every boy will assume you're on your period-whether you are or are not. I tried tampons- no matter what, I just could NOT get them in. Then, when I finally did, taking them out (every single time) was extremely painful, and they would dry me out. So tampons were okay...kind of, until I realized that tampons don't actually work for 8 hours (most anyway). Most last 4-6. So I would have to change at one point or another. I don't care if any girl or boy knows I'm on my period-but the kids at my school taunt you for a natural process every woman goes through. So then I heard about the DivaCup. What's this? It SAVES me and my mom money? I get to keep it in for 12 HOURS? This is ingenious! I had heard about the learning curve of getting it in, taking 1-2 cycles, so I thought it would be really difficult since it was hard just to get a tampon in. But I was wrong, it took me about a day or two to really get the hang of it. It was so simple and easy, I was thrilled. I could wear it to bed-no leaks. Wear it a whole school day-no leaks. On the go, for 12 hours even!-no leaks! Thank you to the makers of the DivaCup, so I can enjoy my period! And with LunaBalm to help cramps, nothing can stop me! Thank you Mother Nature, and Aunt Flo! I actually like you now. (Posted on 1/1/12)
I haven't even received my DivaCup yet, and already I am greatly impressed with this company. The customer service and support is fabulous! I inquired about sizing at roughly 12am last night, and awoke at 7:30 to a personalized email actually answering the questions I asked! Amazing!!! (Posted on 12/29/11)
So I heard about menstrual cups while looking for a website that sells eco-reusable pads, forgot about them, then today after bulk buying pads and the much despised tampons for work, came across this site and reviews. I couldn't help buying one, I know periods are a pain, and with that period products, but I have to say I have never been so excited to get either:) (Posted on 12/29/11)
I heard about the DivaCup a couple years ago from a relative, and like many, set the idea aside, saying, "I hate using tampons, so this is definitely not for me." Having become more and more environmentally aware, I started feeling more and more guilty as I saw how much waste I was producing on a monthly basis. How could I, in good conscience, continue in this manner when I knew of an alternative? After discussing it with a few friends, who swore they wouldn't try it unless I did, I purchased my DivaCup on the spot. What a life-changing experience. It has been six months, and I have not experienced a single leak since switching to the cup. A friend and I had been planning a serious hike, and that event fell on one of my heavy days. With the DivaCup, this wasn't a problem. With a pad or tampon, I would have needed to carry the soiled items with me, and I would most definitely have experienced a leak with a pad. With the cup, I didn't need to bother with it until I got home that evening. A month later, another friend and I took a road trip across the country, and my period started the very morning we set off! As a teen, I went on many road trips with my family, and a couple of them were joined by my period. Using pads, I remember how incredibly uncomfortable those days could be. Using the DivaCup, my period did not cross my mind while we were on the road. I took care of it during my morning routine, cleaned it in the shower at night, and that was all the attention it needed from me. As an added bonus, there is no risk in using the cup on questionable days. With pads, you still need to start afresh after time has rumpled the product, even if your period hasn't started. With tampons, I felt as though my insides were being torn if I used one on a questionable day. With the cup, it's as easy to use on a q-day as any other. BOTTOM LINE: I wish I had listened to my relative sooner, and I hope I can convince more women to make the switch. (Posted on 12/29/11)
I wish I had known about DivaCup long time ago. It took about two periods to get used to but now I would never ever go back to using regular pads or tampons! I cannot live without the DivaCup! It makes me forget that I have a period, it stays so clean, just amazing! I suffer from heavy periods but the DivaCup can be used for 12 hours and it is truly amazing. (Posted on 12/10/11)
I've had the DivaCup for almost eight years now. Yes, the same one. It still works perfectly, cleans up great, and is barely discolored from years of use. I got it as a sophomore in high school and never looked back. It took a little bit of practice to make sure that it sealed correctly when I first started using it, but once I got the hang of it (which didn't take more than one period) it's the best decision I've ever made for down there. I can't express enough how much of a fantastic option it is! (Posted on 11/30/11)
There's something about water that makes your period seem so much cleaner. Using the DivaCup, my experience has shifted from using tampons, having to wrap used ones up in toilet paper (trying not to drop the bloody mess in the process) and hope whatever bathroom I'm in has a convenient, private trash can, to removing the DivaCup in the shower, rinsing the blood down the drain and cleaning the cup and myself at the same time. Having my period is incorporated into my morning shower routine as another part of self-care. In the evenings when I'm taking a shower, it's not quite as convenient to empty the cup and waddle over to the sink to rinse it, but at least I can usually wait until I'm home because the cup holds so much more than tampons. It feels more like a personal tool, an accessory--like how a pair of glasses you wear day in and day out is different than tossing out disposable contact lenses. (Posted on 11/16/11)
I'm both excited and sad I won't get it for another two weeks but knowing this is the LAST cycle with tampons is great! I'm terrified about inserting it though. Knowing me, I'll leak all over and make a huge mess or it will hurt really bad or not fit. Yeah, yeah I know in a month I'll be back saying how AMAZING the divacup is. It's just pre first time user fright, that's all. :) I see too many raves on here about this NOT to know I'm making the best decision EVER. I'll give it a 5 star because of my reading past reviews and my own excitement about this. (Posted on 11/15/11)
Pros: 1. Cleaner than tampons. Catches 98% so not as much getting on other surfaces. (2% might escape on extraction, have tissue handy) 2. Can change/empty anytime. No worries that you need to time the use so you will have enough disposable products to last all day. 3. No nasty trash. cleaner bath room! 4. If you have used tampons, insertion is very much same angle. One foot on tub helps. Not difficult at all. 5. More effective, no accidents or spotting. 6. Good investment, will pay for it's self in 6 months. 7. Seeing/measuring fluids is surprisingly interesting. 8. Can clean tiny holes at rim by pinching like a pimple. 9. Never run out of product, always ready to use. 10. That environment thing. Cons: 1. Didn't get earlier. Wasted money, worries and cleanliness. (Posted on 11/9/11)
I can only echo many of the other reviews here - best choice I've made! I am so happy I finally purchased the DivaCup after over a year of trying to decide if I wanted to make the switch. It was actually a lot easier than I had anticipated, and a much more pleasant fit than tampons. Definitely worth it if you are considering purchasing one. (Posted on 10/27/11)
I bought a divacup a while ago, but ever since not being able to get it out, I was afraid to use it again. But as I was reading through the comments on here, I thought heck, I'd give it another try. So I did, and it went extremely well. I did better putting it in and learning tricks on getting it out, and it was so nice to not have to feel the lunapad rubbing against my legs! I DID feel like I wasn't on my period! I liked it, but am still a little afraid to use it again. I guess I just need to practice more by using it more often! If I get the hang of this, I think I will love it more!! Also, it's a bonus to be able to know the volume at a certain time, because then I know how often I have to go empty it out. And it's nice to be able to keep it in overnight! Makes cleaning easier (than using and washing a lunapad)! (Posted on 10/22/11)
I've never been able to use tampons (ever ever) and I've been a loyal Lunapad girl for two years. Yesterday, I finally tried the DivaCup I've had hidden in my closet for a year. I'm on day 2 of my period and I cannot tell you how much this has changed my life already. I have endometriosis and excruciatingly painful periods. It is BEYOND amazing not to have to deal with feeling wet and gross in addition to the pain. Not to mention not having to pack a full bag of pads every time I leave the house. The cup is also great for me to keep track of the color and volume of my flow, which is essential to being in touch with my body and keeping track of my health. I can't believe I waited this long to try the DivaCup. If you are on the fence, just order one. Be brave. It will absolutely change your life. I promise. (Posted on 10/20/11)
I just ran my first 5k race. With one detail: I was wearing a diva cup. Its comfortable and I can completely forget that I am wearing it for hours. And even though, I never felt so clean in my life during my period I also never felt so connected to my body. There is something about seeing your body at work and being able to see your flux vary throughout the days of your period for real. For the first 2 days its tricky to put in and take out. But you will get the hang of it. I will never turn back. (Posted on 10/6/11)
The first time I used the Diva Cup, it took some getting used to, but it's really the easiest thing in the world and makes me forget I'm on my period. The most frequently I've ever had to change it is 3 times in 24 hours. I can't believe I used to use nasty tampons!!! Truly amazing. Good for your body, good for the earth. It doesn't get any better than this. :) (Posted on 9/18/11)
Worth every penny. If you are reading this because you are considering getting a DivaCup - DO IT! You will be so happy with this purchase. What was once a HORRIBLE time of the month will seem much less horrible. Yes, there may be a learning curve to getting used to this product, but still well worth the time and patience involved. (Posted on 9/18/11)
I have always hated tampons so I wasn't sure whether I would like the Diva Cup. It took me weeks to be able to insert it without hurting myself. Now that I'm used to it it's great. I don't have to carry so many supplies with me and I can going swimming or do anything else without worrying about leaks or changing tampons frequently. (Posted on 9/17/11)
I purchased my divacup a few years ago and am still in love with it. I can't believe how much better it feels to have my period - not only are my cramps much less severe (I really only notice them when I'm not wearing the divacup), I also get the good vibes of knowing I'm helping the environment:) I will NEVER go back! (Posted on 9/17/11)
I am beyond in love with my Diva Cup. I have always used tampons, and couldn't even bring myself to use ones without applicators, because of the "ick factor". The problem was, after a couple days, I would be so sore. It was an ordeal just to insert or remove the tampons. My flow was too heavy to stick with just pads though, so I beared with it. I found out about the Diva Cup, and the first thing I was excited about was the fact that you can wear it for 12 hours! After I talked myself down about the ick factor, I ordered it, and couldn't wait to try it! (Weird, huh? Being excited about your period). That cycle was exceptionally short, for me (I was super stressed at the time), but it was so easy to use! I had NO problems with leaking, inserting, or removing!! I couldn't wait to try it again during a more "normal" cycle (usually close to 7 days long for me). It's been a few months now, and I still can't believe how I ever endured tampons for so long. There's been a couple times I got caught at work without my Diva Cup, and I still had tampons in my purse, but I could wait to get home and switch them out. On top of the ease, it doesn't dry you out, and you're not sticking fiber and chemicals in yourself. (Posted on 9/15/11)
The first thing I learned from the Diva Cup is that I do not have heavy flow. I had been using super plus tampons previously and when I switched to reusable products I discovered I did not in fact need that much protection. The measurement lines on the cup made it easy to determine my actual flow, something that cannot really be seen in a tampon. Tampons absorb so much of the necessary moisture in addition to menstrual flow that it is very easy to mistake average flow for heavy. The Diva cup put me in touch with my cycles and brought me back to nature. The duration of my periods became 2 days shorter and severe cramps becam a thing of the past. I used to experience fatigue during my periods as well and the Diva cup cured me of that as well. I sometimes wonder if such symptoms are related to the use of disposable feminine care products than they are related to menses. (Posted on 9/2/11)
I love my DivaCup! Having been using it for years now. Like others have said, there is a learning curve so give yourself time and you will never look back once you get used to taking it out. Note: I am 48 years old and use the size 1 (small) even though the recommendation was for size 2 (large). The larger cup was painful but the smaller cup fits great. I am very small and have never been pregnant, so your results may vary if these things differ for you, but if you're little like me and the larger cup seems too large, you might try sizing down. (Posted on 8/18/11)
I bought a Diva cup 4 years ago and I absolutely loved it. No weird sleeping positions to prevent leakage, no bulky wet pads, no dry tampons. It was magical. And then one horrible day at work, on the first and heaviest day of my period, I'm emptying the cup when the stupid automatic flush turns on right as my fingers slip, and woosh, Divacup down the toilet. I just wanted to cry, and I wanted the damn toilet to give me back my Divacup. I immediately purchased a new one and sucked it up with Divacup-less period, but you really have no idea how much the Divacup makes periods less annoying until you lose it. (Posted on 8/15/11)
So I'm a 14 year old girl and you know how it is at my age, my period is CRAZY! I would have to use a tampon and an overnight pad but even that, I had to change every 2 hours! I used to cry myself to sleep because my period was seriously taking over my life. I was doing some research and came across the diva cup and god bless I did!! I almost forget it's there (and I always used to have troubles with tampons), my advice would be to run it under water before inserting it and practice, practice, practice! Its gonna be hard the first few times so try it out before your period. PLEASE BUY THIS LIFE SAVER!! (Posted on 8/3/11)
I read reviews about the DivaCup for months before deciding to finally buy one, and it was silly to wait all that time. Inserting it for the first time made me nervous, but within a day I felt really proficient. I had maybe 2 drops leak out that first night, but after that it was absolutely leakproof. Emptying the cup is a bit messy, but once it's in you almost forget that you have your period and it feels really clean and sanitary. On light days I am comfortable leaving it in for the full 12 hours, but on heavier days I empty it every 6-8 hours because you obviously can't tell how much is inside unless you look, and it just makes me feel more secure. I have no discomfort with insertion, but I do find that it's a little uncomfortable removing it since you are pulling out the full diameter of the cup as opposed to the smaller insertion diameter when it's folded. But that discomfort lasts about half a second, and is a small price to pay for all the benefits. If I have to push out a BM the cup moves down, but I just push it back up and it's fine. I had to trim off half the stem and then I didn't feel the cup at all. The only negative is that I really wanted to buy some lunapads but I don't need pads anymore since this works so well! (Posted on 7/21/11)
If you're on the fence: BUY IT. I bought my first diva cup in 2004 and lost it in 2009 to my great dismay... but it was a great excuse to buy another one! It's of such good quality, I imagine you could use the same one for decades. No hassle, no monthly trips to the drug store, no garbage, less cramps, no smell, no itching, etc. I've converted a handful of like-minded girlfriends to the Diva Cup and they all love it as much as I do. I can't recommend it enough - get one before your next period and start living the good life! (Posted on 7/14/11)
I was skeptical about the DivaCup. It seemed to be a messy, implausible idea. I was, however, looking for more natural solutions than the bleached tampons and scary white pantyliners that were flooding the market (no pun intended ;)). I had one shipped to me and tried it out. It was an adjustment during the first month. After the first month of using it, I became used to the feel and adjustment techniques of the cup and have used it every month since. While I know that it is not true, it feels like my periods are shorter and less of a hassle. I run, swim, workout and run around crazy with it and it has never once leaked. I have not had to use another form of protection since and I just recently purchased my second Diva Cup. I will never, ever go back to using anything other than the Diva Cup. If you are skeptical, try it. You will save money and a lot of time. It is the best product EVER! (Posted on 6/29/11)
I first found out about lunapads from a pamphlet I saw at my doctors. I had slowly been making the change into more natural products when I saw the tagline, "love your periods." I thought that was a joke but I really have loved my periods since switching. The Divacup is a great product. It has never once leaked though I wear a teeny pantyliner just in case. All of the lunapad product are of great quality. I feel so clean and feminine using these products and the customer service is awesome. I would recommend this product and the pads/pantyliners to anyone. (Posted on 5/30/11)
My divacup has been going strong for years now. Researching menstrual cups, I thought it would be an adjustment from tampons, but how different could it be? I fell in love with it right away when I discovered using the divacup meant much milder menstrual symptoms all around. (Posted on 5/29/11)
I just ordered my second DivaCup (first one I've had for about 2 1/2 years and it's looking a little worse for the wear)- I still consider it one of the best purchases I ever made! I read a testimonial that said your products helped a woman "make peace with her period", and that's exactly how I feel. I've always hated my heavy, heavy period passionately, but using a DivaCup has made a world of difference. The DivaCup doesn't always trap the first two days of my heavy flow perfectly, but neither do tampons-- the DivaCup is by far the better option. I use a pad for my first couple days, and I hope to use your panty products in the future (trying out the panties in the order I just placed). I recommend your product to women whenever we get on the topic; the DivaCup has made a surprisingly significant difference in my life. Thank you thank you thank you. (Posted on 5/16/11)
Just finished my first cycle with my DivaCup. What a difference! Yeah, I had cramping on the first day, but it wasn't nearly as severe as in past months when I was using disposables. I love that I can go most of the day after the first couple of days without needing to empty the cup every time I go to the restroom, and there was NO moment where I felt I was overflowing. I had my doubts initially, but now I'm more than sold. As others have said, it shortened things, from a full seven to about five with spotting on the sixth day. (Posted on 5/11/11)
I am a mother of 3 and was worried how it would fit after 3 births. I found that by turning the diva inside out it was much more comfortable. and seemed to keep from leaking better. I wear a thin pad during any work outs or yoga since i do spot here and there. BUT, i wouldn't go back to tampons ever! It has not only made it much more peaceful of a process but also decreased the length of my period to just a few days. Highly recommend! (Posted on 5/6/11)
Hello everyone! I've had DivaCup for over a year and a half now. A colleague told me about it while I was living in Korea and am thankful she did. I'd become allergic to tampons (way too sensitive down there) & pads were out of the question. I've always prided myself on loving every aspect of my body and being a woman; using the DivaCup took it to a whole new level. I honor myself for being a woman, and so much more. Plus, I travel a lot so this is the safest and most cost effective way for that once a month honor me time. I currently live in China; DivaCup is a MUST have. Thank you!!!!!! (Posted on 5/5/11)
I have been using the Diva Cup for probably 2 years now. Before that, I had tried the heaviest tampons along with pantyliners and still had trouble. I have a form of dysmenorrhea and menorrhagia, which means a both painful period and an abnormally heavy period. I pass a lot more tissue (not blood clots!) than the average woman also. Thanks to the Diva Cup, I am able to measure how much my heavy flow is. The only time I leak is during the transition from medium to super heavy, due to how the female body changes for super heavy. Had I been given a "normal" cycle, it would be perfectly leak free. Even with the sensitivity/pain I get from dysmenorrhea, it's still easy to put in, and I hardly feel it. I suggest that in order to keep from having a yeast infection, use a large cup of water (maybe a supersize takeout cup) and wash with soap & water thoroughly before re-inserting the cup. You can dump the Diva cup contents in the toilet, rinse the Diva cup with the water via large cup, and keep clean in many ways. You can buy the handy wipes and water bottle for public restroom use to do the same thing. If you notice the cup stains, don't get worried; it's still usable. (Posted on 5/4/11)
On my first day using the Diva Cup I put it through the most strenuous test that exists for comfort... a 30 mile bike ride. I was aware of the cup being there, I could feel it each time I shifted position on the saddle, but it did not hurt or pinch in any way. It did leak a little, but I attribute this to poor insertion technique rather than any failure on the products part. I have used it two other days since and had no leakage issues (though I did not take any lengthy rides). After 3 days I am still having difficulty with removal since it tends to become, well, slippery, however that is not enough of a negative in my book. (Posted on 5/1/11)
The diva cup has completely changed the way I feel about my cycle. As most women I absolutely dread that time of the month, with the cramping, bloating and just feeling icky. I have just finished my 2nd month with the diva cup and I can't thank you enough, I actually forget that I am on my period. I no longer have any cramping and I don't have to worry about any embarrassing leaks, it is 100% leak free (if worn correctly). I have been paying it forward to all my family and friends. Thanks again. (Posted on 4/22/11)
I've never been inspired to write a review for a product before now. I just finished my first cycle with the Diva Cup and I can't believe how easy it was and that I never tried it before now. I'm 29 years old and feel like I should have been using this product for the past 16 years! Using the diva cup was simple, comfortable, and sanitary, and I was able to forget about my period for hours at a time. Also, I'm a yoga teacher and I'm able to practice yoga with the cup -- no crinkling plastic noise or tampon getting lodged in an uncomfortable position! And not a single leak for the whole 6 days. I feel like telling every woman I know about this, and I can't imagine going back to pads or tampons ever again. I also love to see my bathroom waste basket not filling up with plastic wrappers! If you're thinking about trying the diva cup out, please do yourself a favor and buy one immediately. It's worth every penny. (Posted on 4/15/11)
Using Lunapads is definitely a way of life, and I am so glad I made the switch to the Diva Cup 5 years ago. I'm happily buying my 3rd Diva Cup today ( I lost the first two hahaha) :]:] WE ARE BETTER PEOPLE FOR REDUCING OUR TRASH OUTPUT!! & BETTER WOMEN FOR EMBRACING OUR PERIODS!!! (Posted on 4/11/11)
I've always heard about menstrual cups. But to be honest the thought kinda freaked me out and grossed me out at the same time. It wasn't until a tampon "broke" inside of me causing me to hunt for small missing pieces (I'll spare the rest of the details) made me want to research menstrual cups in more detail. Fast forward to today, I just finished my second cycle with the DivaCup and I can not express how happy I am with it. I got the hang of it my the second day of using it (punch down fold all the way!). It's so comfortable (I don't feel it at all but I did trim half of the stem off however.) It's great for the environment, less "stuff I have to buy which will save me lots of money, my periods have been shorter with less cramps as well....the list goes on and on and on. The other day while shopping, I walked through the fem. products aisle and in my head I waved bye-bye since I'm never going back. LOL! I wish I would have explored this option many years ago. :) (Posted on 3/25/11)
I just used my Diva Cup for the first time, and I am in love! Thank you for this amazing invention. To everyone who thought her period was even a little bit gross, it is nothing but beautiful with the Diva Cup. No slimy tampons with goo hanging off the end, or soggy pads squishing everything that is trying to come out being pressed back up against your body... When you use a Diva Cup all you have to deal with is a cute little cup holding a bit (or more than a bit) of clean red liquid, the pure and beautiful substance that your own body produces and that the doit-run "feminine hygiene" industry has managed to turn into something dirty and shameful. No way I'm flushing that stuff. I'm going to feed it to my plants. Thank you! (And thank you to O.B. for screwing up badly enough to push me to try something I had been considering for years.) (Posted on 3/21/11)
The diva cup has been a total life saver for me. I'm prone to yeast infections and can't wear tampons anymore, plus they are very drying. I have also tried the disposable cups, but they don't fit well. I actually stopped doing yoga during my menses, because of these problems and I just found pads too cumbersome. My last cycle with the diva cup I was able to do yoga class during and didn't have any problems, not to mention it helped speed everything up and instead if 4-5 days of bleeding it was only 3 + a few days of spotting. The cloth pads are so great and I love that they come in fun colors. The moon pad bag is great too! Yay! (Posted on 3/21/11)
Hello ladies at LunaPads! I play roller derby and last night was the first time I played while wearing the DivaCup. Let me tell you! It felt like I was wearing nothing at all and it was wonderful. Roller derby is an extremely physical sport and a girl always has to be worried about if she's covered (down there) or if something's going to pop out (not to be completely crude). The DivaCup was so great I forgot that I was even on my period. Thank you! (Posted on 3/21/11)
It's been YEARS since I swore off tampons and pads, mostly for selfish reasons, and not with any eco-friendly, environment saving goal. In my own experience tampons would rub me wrong, and pads got irritating at the end of my cycle from the constant friction in my pants. Besides normal cramping I didn't wanted the added world of hurt I got from using disposable menstrual products. I also got pissed when I realized how much they were costing me out of pocket. So I was about 20 when I said, "f that!" and started doing research online for an alternative to so much bs. At first I thought maybe I could start with reusable cloth pads, but quickly realized I was too damn lazy to wash anything that many times, so I got me a DivaCup. DivaCup, you have done right by me. I'm 25 now, so I'd say it's been a good five years. The only time I've experienced major leakage was last week, when I lost you and had to temporarily use tampons. I was so grateful when I found you again, hidden under some bandaids. I will never lose you again. Sure, I spot my underwear sometimes, but that's nothing compared to the mess pads made. And sometimes I get really annoyed having to put the cup in when I'm in a hurry, but in reality it's only a minute more in the bathroom. Emptying the blood is still a novelty for me as well. It's good times witnessing the splash and watching it go down the with the toilet cycle. I also like knowing just how much comes out of me at a given time. The best part is that it's not messy, it's not fussy, I can't accidentally have it shoved up there when I'm having sex, I don't have to buy any more pads or tampons, and besides forgetting that it's in there, I have no problems with it whatsoever. Isn't it amaaaazing that you can forget it's in there? I've accidentally left it in for a whole day before I experienced the telltale leakage and had to make a casual stop at the bathroom. Probably not the best for my vag, but I'm sure the rest of you are more conscientious than myself. So cheers for a five year investment that cost me forty upfront, so far eight dollars a year (instead of eight dollars a month), and will last me for many more years to come. (Posted on 3/10/11)
I have been using the diva cup for several months now and think it is a great product. It is so wonderful not having to think about changing anything all day long, even on your heaviest day. As well, you don't need to carry supplies everywhere you go. Please be patient when you first try it because it does take some getting used to. I would suggest you keep your nails short and take your time. Read the instructions carefully. Despite it's big appearance, it really does fit comfortably once it's in the right spot. I suffer with endometriosis and I'm hoping that this might help with that. If not, at least the environment is happier. (Posted on 3/9/11)
I was a little nervous trying the DivaCup. Out of the box, and to a nervous newbie, it seems way too big to go where it needs to go comfortably. But once I got into the hang of of using it, it was absolutely amazing, and I doubt I'll use anything else. In an effort to have a more eco (and body) friendly mode of birth control, I use the Paragard IUD to cut out the hormones for myself and for the sake of wildlife (like frogs) that're exposed to hormones that pass through the urine. Unfortunately a side-effect of that is a super-heavy period. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the DivaCup handled it with no problems at all. No wet string, as with a tampon, and I was able to wear it for the whole day with no problems. Best of all, ZERO waste. (Posted on 3/8/11)
I'm not gonna lie, I'm one of those girls who don't really have a problem with tampons. But just let me say...once you go DivaCup, you never wanna use a tampon again. Love it. (Posted on 3/8/11)
I'm on my second cycle with the Diva Cup and I am sold, sold, sold! I have never been able to wear tampons because of the resulting cramping, so I was nervous about how the DC would work. Like a dream -- no problems, and all of the irritation from pad-friction is gone! I'm shocked at how much less toilet paper I use, and how much paper waste is eliminated with this glorious little thing. Wow. I'm telling everyone. (Posted on 2/27/11)
I struggled to write a review that will actually do this product justice. It will change your life forever. I am a mom of 2, and at 31 yrs old, seriously considered having an endometrial ablation, to rid me of "Aunt Flo" forever, simply because I am finished having children (hubs had a vasectomy). Depressingly, the deductible was cost-prohibitive, and I was forced to continue dealing with it, and despite breastfeeding #2 for 24 months, my period returned, with excitement, after 12 months. Here we are, 4 years later, and I've been "dealing" with it. I am a triathlete, and outdoor enthusiast and this REALLY bites. Because hubs can't get me pregnant, I'm au natural, and I refuse to go on the pill because of the drastic, awful hormone changes (I even tried BCPs for a cycle to re-arrange it for a vacation with disastrous results). Additionally, we live organically, and Tampax and their comrades, go against my grain. I used to dread, DREAD, my period. Ladies, once you have children, all bets are off. Ya change. If you're an athlete, or not, or just an innocent sleeper who leaks, "double protection" really sucks. Let's just say, after I discovered the DivaCup, my daughter's "talk" will go very differently. (Posted on 2/20/11)
I realized this month it's been just over four years since I made the switch from disposables to cloth and the DC. I still have and use my original DC in a size1. That baby looks and works great! I had to research other folds and found out the 7-fold works best for me, but even though it took a few cycles to get used to I will NEVER go back and I'm encouraging friends to switch! Allergic reactions prompted my switch, and I've never looked back! Thank you! (Posted on 2/19/11)
I just finished month 2 of the Diva Cup and could not be more pleased. It's positively life-improving. The most useful technology I've encountered since the iPhone! (Posted on 2/8/11)
Sometime ago, a dear friend told me about The DivaCup, I went out and bought one nearly 5 years ago, and am so thankful I did. Not only has it made my menstrual cramps less painful, but also help me connect with my menstrual cycle in a way I didn't think was possible. I'm tuned in, I honor this time, I value my blood. I love my DivaCup, and often help friends figure theirs out. I tell everyone I can about your product, as if I am some sort of non-payed representative. The change in my mind, my body, my pocket book and our Earth was well worth the minimal cost all those years ago. Thank you! (Posted on 2/8/11)
I heard about this from a friend and was a little doubtful, but on a frustrated whim during a wasteful cycle, I went ahead and ordered a divacup and luna pads. The first cycle was a challenge and it took a little effort to get used to placing it and figuring out when it was full. But with the pads as backup I never had any issue and best of all NO IRRITATION EVER. The silicone cup is extremely comfortable and a billion times more healthy. I wish I learned about this when I was 13. It's perfect for camping and climbing trips too. (Posted on 2/7/11)
Tampons never worked for me. I have a very heavy period so I was always doubling up tampons with pads. I have used the divacup for one cycle and I'm already in love with it. It took about a day to figure it out and get used to it. I will never go back to tampons. I do not leak at all and my period is so stress free. An added bonus was that I was able to keep track of my blood loss and was able to determine exactly how much I had lost during this cycle, which I can now take to my doctor to show I have an unusually heavy flow. I recommend this product to all of my female friends. (Posted on 2/6/11)
A tampon user, I always thought the Diva Cup would be nasty, messy, hard to use and uncomfortable. But I started to loathe that scratching feeling from too-dry tampons enough to give it a go. To my surprise, I couldn't feel it at all -- and it was super convenient not to have to worry about running out. I have found the diva cup to work great for sports, swimming, night time and everyday. I usually forget I'm having my period, since I only have to change this twice a day -- once when I get up, and once before I go to bed. Now that I've been using this for four years tampons seem disgusting. The smell, the scratchiness, the always having to change them and don't get me started on the string. I'd suggest any tampon user to try the diva cup. Really, you have nothing to lose -- they're so inexpensive in comparison to reams and reams of tampons. (Posted on 2/5/11)
I have a DivaCup and love it. After baby #2 I was uncomfortable wearing tampons, I just didn't feel 'right' - if you know what I mean. A girlfriend encouraged me to try a DivaCup and now I'm a convert. I found it took a little bit to figure out the best way to wear it (I had to trim the end off completely) but now I LOVE it. I feel the most secure when wearing my DivaCup. (Posted on 2/5/11)
I just finished month 2 of the Diva Cup and could not be more pleased. It's positively life-improving. The most useful technology I've encountered since the iPhone! (Posted on 2/5/11)
I always hated using tampons and dreaded going swimming knowing I would have to use one. Only this past cycle I started using the divacup and right from day one I fell in love with it! It is so easy to use and comfortable to wear. I have already recommended this product to all of my friends and the best part is the fact it is reusable. (Posted on 2/5/11)
I was so excited about using the divacup I had a countdown to the start of my period! it's so handy, I love that I can insert it before my blood comes so that there's no messy surprises! it took a couple of tries to insert it properly but once I figured it out it was easy. my period pain has gone and I love love love not having to wear stuffy disposable pads at night! it's also great because I can go out and drink, not worrying about drunkenly falling over while trying to change a tampon, let alone remembering to do so every 4 hours! My friend is very curious about it and is keen to try, I'm excited to be a part of this education and liberation! (Posted on 2/5/11)
I love not having to carry around tons of pads or tampons! This is so convenient, easy to use, and is more comfortable to insert than a tampon. It did take a couple of days to get the hang of it but it's worth it! I've convinced my sister, my cousin and even a co-worker to switch! I highly recommend this product to anyone. (Posted on 2/4/11)
I switched to DivaCup about 5 cycles ago. Amazing! Not only do I feel super about not throwing anything away, it's reconnected me with my body and period. Combined with my so pretty lunapads, it's actually something I look forward to! I was a little freaked out about the size, compared to a little O.B tampon- it was a bit freakish. But once it's in, you don't feel it and I can work all day without even worrying about leaking! I recommend it to anyone! Buy one, you know you want to! (Posted on 2/4/11)
Love the Diva cup! Tampons were too drying and causing a UTI or even a yeast infection. Have been using the Diva cup for 2 years and not one UTI or yeast infection. I can go 12 hours without thinking about my period. It is almost like not having one. Empty and wash in the morning and at bedtime and I am done! No more extra trips to the bathroom for "the check"! It does take a few cycles to get use to inserting and removing but once you figure it you will never go back to tampons again! (Posted on 2/4/11)
The Diva Cup really did completely change how I view my period. It is no longer a part of being a woman that I hate and dread and no longer am I pretty certain that my period will be followed by a yeast infection. In fact, I have not had a single YI since switching to the Diva Cup. The Diva Cup is comfortable enough that I cannot feel it once it's inserted. Having found this was the best thing I could have done for myself. (Posted on 2/4/11)
My sister told me about the Diva Cup last year and I think it is an amazing product. I always used organic cotton tampons before the diva cup, but this seems so much better for your body. It is non-toxic and creates hardly any waste. It also works on a heavy flow day, and I have gone swimming with it no problems! It has always shocked me that people put tampons with rayon into their body every month without questioning what that can do to you. (Posted on 1/29/11)
I love my Diva Cup (& my Lunapads too!). I've been using it for over a year now and I will never go back to tampons or plastic pads. It takes the guessing out of choosing a tampon - I have a heavy period for two days and then 4 or 5 days of very light bleeding. With tampons, I found I would either leak or feel dried out, despite keeping every absorbency level on hand. With the Diva cup, I do not need to stock an in-home pharmacy and I always feel comfortable. And I LOVE that they are safe to wear before your period starts. This is especially great if you think you are about to start your period but are going out for the day. No worries about running to the bathroom to check if you've started or not! And you don't need to pack anything which is great for those of us who are forgetful. When I first got mine, I found the long stem irritating but they give you directions on how to cut it shorter if this happens to you. I trimmed mine right down (to the shortest recommended length) and have no problems retrieving it. I don't grab the stem, I grab the base itself which has ring "grippers" on it. One problem is negotiating your way from the toilet to the sink to rinse it out before reinserting it. I have solved this in a few different ways. At home, I have a "mini-shower" that attaches to your toilet tank water line and can be hung from the tank or to the wall, so I don't need to get off the toilet to rinse it off. I highly recommend this! There are links to this product on most cloth diapering sites since many mamas use these to spray off the solids before the dirty diapers go in the pail. When I am working outdoors or travelling, I pack one or two perinatal bottles full of water, some TP and some hand sanitizer. Then I can clean up, pull out, rinse, and reinsert no matter where. I honestly think every woman should give this a try! And its cheep too! (Posted on 1/25/11)
I started using the Diva cup 3 cycles ago. I was preparing for a vacation where pads would not be practical and this was recommended by a friend. I gave it a try a couple of months in advance to make sure I'd be comfortable with it and from the first time I used it I LOVED it! I have VERY heavy periods (I have to empty the cup every 3-4 hours on heavy days and even then it is often full or half full) and I have very minimal spotting, but that's it! To be able to get by with just a light pantyliner (if that) is AMAZING! I just purchased some Lunapads to try those out as well as the panties and can't wait to be free of disposables! THANK YOU for creating a product that is changing women's lives this way! I have been telling everyone who will listen about it and have converted a couple ladies already who also love it! My husband might be getting sick of hearing me talk about it, but other women I have told have all been very interested after knowing how I suffered before this haha! (Posted on 11/17/10)
I have used this Diva cup instead of tampons for about 5 months now, and I am VERY happy with it. I like that it can stay in for 12 hrs without having to worry about anything and doesn't even leak. I also like that it is much more comfortable than tampons, and I never have to worry about rushing to the store to buy more. It took a couple of tries to learn how to get it positioned correctly, but after that it's a snap. (Posted on 11/12/10)
I have been using a diva cup for 5 years and I would never go back to using tampons. A friend recommended it to me. At first I thought the concept of diva cup was a little weird, but it doesn't take long to get the hang of using one. Owning a diva cup has saved me a lot of money over the last 5 years, and more importantly saved me from sending a lot of tampons to landfill. I can definitely recommend it. (Posted on 11/1/10)
I began using my Diva Cup four years ago and it has served me well wherever I am. After I moved to another continent, my Diva Cup helped me have a sense of comfort and consistency when it came to my moon time. I never worried about running out or having to "find" another brand that would replace the one I used at home. No, Diva Cup took that potential "culture shock" out of my experience and would be the item I would never travel without. I have tried other types of "cups" and Diva Cup is by far the best and most reliable one on the market. I wish I had found this product and Lunapads sooner because it makes me feel so taken care of during my cycle. It is also the most financially liberating product a woman could give to herself and that is something we can all take to the bank, especially these days. :) (Posted on 8/30/10)
I'm on period #3 with my Diva Cup, and I love it so much! My Diva Cup has never leaked and I don't need to wear a liner. I can put it in before work and not empty it until I get home nine hours later. If I do need to empty it in a public bathroom, it's not that big of a deal, just wipe it out and put it back in. It's so much nicer than tampons, I don't feel all dried out, or like I'm trying to soak up and scrape out all traces of menstruation from myself. It took a couple tries to figure out how to insert it the first time, but now it's a super easy and once it's in I can't feel it at all. I feel way better not creating all kinds of trash just because I'm on my period. I talk endlessly about how neat it is to anybody who will listen. I think periods are cool, and now I feel like I'm participating in mine and not trying to destroy any evidence of it. I highly recommend the Diva Cup! (Posted on 7/19/10)
I was always afraid of tampons because of the risk of TSS and found plastic pads uncomfortable and limiting. The Diva Cup is the perfect solution! I especially love marching right past the feminine hygiene aisle at the grocery without any worry about how "stocked" I am at home. And, now that I know what a dramatic difference there is between cloth panty liners and plastic ones, I've made up my mind that if we ever have children, I'll only cloth diaper them. Thanks for this tremendous product! (Posted on 7/18/10)
Wow, it's been a few years since I've had my first Diva period and I'm still as thrilled today with it as the first day I used it. The worry is gone...the disposable tampons and pads are gone...the mess is gone. I feel much cleaner during my period. Confident, knowing that I'm protected. I'm 40yrs old, with 3 kids and my periods are the last thing on my mind now a days. (Posted on 7/8/10)
I have been using the Diva Cup for a couple of years and I will never go back to tampons. I hated using tampons, when I heard about this I could not wait to get one. I was not disappointed. It is so easy to use and so comfortable you (almost) forget it is there. I cannot recommend the Diva Cup enough. (Posted on 6/21/10)
In addition to what everyone else said about the comfort, convenience, and (maybe surprising) lack of mess that the Diva Cup provides, I want to add something else. I've learned far more about my periods from the 2 years that I've been using the cup. My first Diva Cup period, I had started a new job and was still in training, so I had to have someone with keys escort me everywhere, even the bathroom! Thanks to the Diva Cup, that was much less often than it would have been for me. Also, later I took a plane flight. I have extremely heavy periods. Between tight connections and traveling with 2 kids, and not having access to the bathroom due to turbulence, it could have been a nightmare and embarrassment. Between the Diva Cup and a Maxi Lunapad, I made it with no embarrassment and a limit to how much time I had to spend in the bathroom. The thing is, though, I've learned that my period is extraordinarily heavy. I fill the cup in two hours on my heaviest days. Most days of my period, I'm emptying it every three to four hours at least, and it has filled about half the way or more many of the times I do. Before I could say "I fill a tampon pretty quickly" but now I know how many ounces in how long a time. I realize that there is a reason I'm anemic, and VERY tired after my periods. The information helps me to be more gentle with myself and also realize I need to take particular care of myself. I have information I can bring with me to the doctor to talk about fibroids and other issues. The information makes a big difference, and it is something that you don't get with disposables or absorbing products. (Posted on 5/31/10)
I use my DivaCup with my lunapanties for a mess-free totally comfortable period. Though it's most convenient for those with lighter/medium flow, it is manageable for people with heavier flow. In fact, I find it the most comfortable option available. My DivaCup needs to be emptied at least once (sometimes twice) a day during heavy flow. However, I have learned to do this discreetly: using single-occupancy bathrooms in cafes, learning the traffic patterns of the bathroom near my office (ex-it's busiest after lunch), etc. After about a month or two, I learned the signals that indicated that my DivaCup was becoming full so I could schedule my emptying in an appropriate and timely manner. In addition, I always wear back-up lunapanties just in case. (Posted on 4/22/10)
I bought my Diva Cup just after my previous cycle. This was the first time in my life that I had looked forward to getting my period. I Just finished my first cycle with the diva cup and it is so great! I did have some difficulty placing it correctly at first but it is still a revolutionary tool that all women should know about. I will never go back to those uncomfortable tampons or bunching pads that don't work again! (Posted on 4/19/10)
The DivaCup is so comfortable and it's much more reliable and convenient than tampons. I feel like I am in tune with my body and am getting to know myself, instead of being annoyed and turned off by my body's natural process. I am so thankful for the DivaCup. I wish I had known about it sooner! (Posted on 4/17/10)
I have used the DivaCup for close to eight years and LOVE it. I have terrible cramps with my period and found that once I switched to the cup, this changed. Now, they are more cope-able and feel natural and normal. I also love the fact that with a heavy flow I never leak any more. I've tried tampons since and always regret it! It's easy to use, soft and I feel like I'm taking care of myself not just dealing with my period. (Posted on 4/16/10)
I had problems with my period, either my flow would be short lived and very heavy, or dreadfully long lived and extremely light. I just can't stand sanitary napkins and tampons were never absorbent enough, or would dry me out. The Diva Cup is perfect! My saviour! It doesn't matter what kind of flow I have, it's always just enough. It's also great not to have to worry about having enough supplies on hand either as you only need the one. Although I do have 2. One at home, and one at work, so that I'm never without. (Posted on 4/14/10)
I love my DivaCup. I don't waste money on tampons, and I don't waste resources using them (without sacrificing comfort or convenience-- or my health!). It's a one-time purchase that you can use for years and years, and holds way more than any traditional tampon. Just a side note: mine wasn't comfortable until I cut off the tip. I guess I'm "small" enough to not need the tip to pull it out, but I found that it could not be placed properly unless that part was removed. I used a pair of regular scissors and boiled my cup for 20 minutes after doing so. It might not work for everyone! (Posted on 4/14/10)
The DivaCup is fantastic! For the last two or three years I've been reading about this product and was constantly curious. When I began to hear reports of multiple friends spouting their conversion from tampons and pads to Diva Cup, I decided to try it. I've been using mine since December and have yet to be disappointed!!! I'm now like my friends, recommending it to any woman who will listen to me! (Posted on 4/13/10)
This is an amazing product, especially for women with light to medium flows. I'm sure so many women have had the unpleasant, painful experience of trying to remove a dry tampon towards the end of your period. Terrible. The Diva Cup eliminates that discomfort, and if your flow isn't heavy you can literally forget that you're on your period. I only think about it twice during the day - at morning and at night when I clean it out. I've even gone more than 24 hours without washing it out when camping, since it never seems to fill up for me. It does take a little getting used to to put in, but so did tampons when I first learned how to use them. Yes, you will have to deal with your blood in a new way. I'm a squeamish person myself but I've found it so cool to get to know how my flow changes throughout my cycle, and to get to know my body a little better. I am so much more comfortable, saving so much money, and experiencing SO MUCH less hassle with my period. I'm on my second Diva Cup now - I replaced my first one after two years since it'd started to discolor and I wanted to treat myself to a new one. The quality of the product hadn't degraded at all in that time. Really - if you're considering it, go for it. You won't regret it. (Posted on 4/13/10)
I switched to Lunapads years ago because I was inspired to care better for the planet and for my body. But I had never been a fan of pads in general, and the adjustment to having extra padding in my panties wasn't easy. I tried The Keeper at one point, but the rubber was too stiff and I found it uncomfortable. Finally, though, at the prompting of a friend, I decided to give the DivaCup a whirl and I've never looked back. The silicone is softer & more pliable than rubber, and I love the ease of use, the fact that I can wear any underwear I want with it, and of course the fact that I'm not clogging up the landfill (or my plumbing, for that matter). As a special bonus, I've found that it's also great for my sex life - it stays in place and out of the way in an almost miraculous fashion. (Posted on 4/13/10)
I agree with previous reviewers, the DivaCup is truly life changing. It makes your period completely effortless. I wish I had known about this years ago. I wish I could tell everyone I meet about the DivaCup.. it is a must have!!! (Posted on 4/13/10)
One of the first things we should all learn about as young teens, at least to have the option. (sadly I didn't find out til ten years later...! Australia is in the dark about these.) No need to worry, you can live your life and forget periods. Less cramping, and suitable for all kinds of women (and menstrual flow) Easy enough to clean out when you shower. Takes up next to no room in a draw, and lasts a very long time! Great for women, great for the planet. Try it! You won't regret the change. I promise :) (Posted on 4/9/10)
The DivaCup has been great for me - especially when I'm flowing heavily or running. I love the convenience and security of it. (Posted on 2/25/10)
