    Postpartum, Heavy Flow

Our Postpartum Kit is specially designed for postpartum use and includes more liners than our other kits to accommodate very heavy flow. The pads in this kit are also great for overnight use once you’ve returned to your regular menstrual period.

    Includes:
1 Heavy Pad with 1 Heavy Wing Liner and 2 Heavy Trifold Liners
1 Long Pad with 1 Long Basic Liner and 2 Long Wing Liners

    Construction
Pad Base: 2 Layer, 100% cotton flannel base topped with an absorbent panel made of 2 layers of cotton fleece, and 1 layer of ultra-thin nylon to minimize soaking through. Nickel-free, Silver-plated brass single snap fastening. Click here to see how our pads are constructed.
Liner Insert: 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece.

    Performance
A single Pad will get you through an entire day of your cycle; just change your Liner as needed. Liners will last approximately as long (per use) as a comparably-sized disposable pad or tampon. Unlike most disposable pads, Lunapads do not contain any added chemicals, gels, or super absorbent polymers. Given this, Lunapads users need to be mindful of changing the Liner insert as frequently as their flow dictates in order to prevent soaking through the Pad. Frequent changing of the Liners significantly enhances the comfort and performance of the Pad.

Lunapads will last upwards of 5 years with recommended usage and care.

Lunapads can be washed by hand or machine in any temperature with your regular detergent. Pre-soaking or rinsing in cold water prior to washing is recommended (but not always necessary) particularly if the pads are heavily saturated. Please note that if Lunapads are being soaked, soaking water must be changed daily.

We recommend natural cleaning products such as Nellie’s All Natural Laundry Soda for regular cleaning, and Buncha Farmers Stain Remover to perk up stained Lunapads. Heavily stained Pads, Liners or Pantyliners may also benefit from occasional machine wash and dry in hot settings or air drying in direct sunlight.

Please avoid the use of chlorine bleach or fabric softeners to clean Lunapads, as this will decrease the performance of the products and is harmful to the environment.

Wrap the Pad around the gusset of your underwear and close the snap to secure. The fleece panel should be facing up (towards your body on the inside of the panty), as this is the most absorbent part of the pad. Incorrect placement may result reduced comfort and performance of the Pad.

Liners can be added as desired by inserting the ends under the ric-rac bands on the Pad. Multiple Liners may be used for increased absorbency. Pads can be refreshed as desired by removing and replacing the Liner(s). Please note that Liners are not intended to be worn without a Pad.

    1. So much more comfortable! Review by Alicia
      Quality

I'm SO grateful that I stumbled upon Lunapads and this kit while I was pregnant. I was really worried about postpartum bleeding, so I got this kit along with another long pad with 2 extra wing liners. This setup has been perfect for my needs.

After using the hospital diaper/pad hybrids (they were easier on my stitches because of how ridiculously thick the pads are), I switched to these and can't imagine using disposables for this time. They feel icky in comparison! The Lunapads are much more comfortable (and like a previous reviewer said, akin to leaving the hospital and coming home to your own bed). Love them! (Posted on 8/25/11)

    2. Easier Post-Baby Review by Stefanie
      Quality

I got these for after I had my son, and it made the whole post-baby experience much easier. I did a vaginal delivery, but he came out very quickly and I ripped. They gave me these huge pads at the hospital that were disposable and they felt terrible.

When I got home, I switched to these, and they felt so much more comfortable and did not rub against my stitches. I am cloth-diapering my baby, so it was easy to clean them every night with his wash. I recommend using these. Not only are they much more comfortable than the disposable kind, they just feel more comfortable and natural. Leaving those gross thick hospital pads and going to lunapads was akin to leaving the hectic hospital ward and coming home to my own cozy warm bed.

After the heavy bleeding was done, I was able to switch to lunapanties and liners, which were also helpful. I am really glad I discovered these products for this time in my life. (Posted on 2/20/11)

    3. perfect start for postpartum! Review by Annalise
      Quality

This was a great starting point for my postpartum needs! SO glad I had these... they are unbelievably comfortable and easy to take care of. I'm never going back to disposables!

IMO this kit plus 4 more long pads/liners and 2 regular pads/liners was the perfect setup for my postpartum needs! (Posted on 2/4/11)

    4. great for post-partum flow and incontinence Review by the shortcake
      Quality

In the weeks after vaginally delivering my wonder twins, which included forceps for each of them and a catheter, i had more than the normal lochia, i had some incontinence. While totally normal after delivery, certainly after a delivery that necessitated a catheter, i was distressed about my inability to control my bladder. happily i purchased, weeks prior to delivery, a postpartum kit in "cocoa kaleidoscope", it was wonderful for the lochia and dynamite with the incontinence, not to mention how super cute the kit was (the incontinence was delivery related and healed )!
