What are Lunapanties?

Lunapanties are our very own all-in-one padded period panties. Lunapanties are organic cotton underwear with a pad sewn permanently into the gusset, making them an “all-in-one” replacement for disposable pads and pantyliners. Lunapanties are actually one of the original Lunapads designs from 1993!
Like Lunapads, Lunapanties are made right here in Vancouver, Canada . All the panties in both colors are made from 100% organic cotton jersey, but the fleece panel in black Lunapanties is made with regular cotton due to it not being available in organic. The fleece panel in cream Lunapanties is 100% organic cotton.

What's the difference between Regular and Deluxe Lunapanties?

Original Lunapanties padded panties are for light flow, “just in case” backup protection when using an internal product, or everyday pantyliner-style protection. They feature:

• 100% organic cotton panty
  
  Lunapanties Bikini style in black organic
• gusset panel made of 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece

Deluxe Lunapanties are for average to heavier menstrual flow and light incontinence. They feature:

• 100% organic cotton panty
• gusset panel made of 1 layer of breathable nylon and 1 layer of 100% cotton fleece
• bands that hold Luna Liners, enabling you to adjust absorbency and easily freshen the pad throughout the day as needed.

How are Lunapanties different from disposable pads and pantyliners?

In so many great ways! Lunapanties...

• are more comfortable and breathable than disposables
• do not contain any chemical residues, plastics or glue that can ruin your panties or stick to you
• have the pad sewn permanently in the panty, so you don't have to worry about it bunching up or moving around
• create far less expense and waste

How are Lunapanties different from Lunapads?

Rather than being used in conjunction with your own underwear, Lunapanties have a fleece liner that works like a pad, sewn permanently into the underwear – it's all in one.

Why would I wear Lunapanties instead of regular underwear?

Lunapanties are essentially highly functional underwear. Women are leaky, let's face it! Use them for:

• absorbing daily discharge
• backup protection for the DivaCup
• light incontinence or menstrual flow
• on days when you're sure that your period is going to start, but hasn't yet

We all have a collection of “period panties” stashed away for when we need them - Lunapanties are simply a more luxurious and functional version of the same thing.

How do I clean Lunapanties?

As with Lunapads, you have several options. Some women are happy just to put them into their regular wash, but if they are quite stained you may want to pre-soak them as you would Lunapads, or rinse or soak them in cold water prior to machine washing with your regular detergent. Check your health food store for earth-friendly stain removers and laundry soaps. You can of course also wash them by hand. As with Lunapads, Lunapanties should not be cleaned with chlorine bleach, and will shrink slightly if you put them in a hot dryer.

How long can I wear them for?

Original Lunapanties are designed for very light menstrual flow or daily discharge only, and will not be as effective as Deluxe Lunapanties or Lunapads for heavier menstrual flow. Providing that the flow or discharge is very light, you could easily wear them all day. As with regular underwear, you should not wear them for longer than one day without switching to a fresh pair. Lunapads will also fit over your Lunapanties, for heavy flow coverage.

With Deluxe Lunapanties, the nylon lining and removable liner feature mean that you can wear them for longer, when your flow is heavier, or even for incontinence. As with Lunapads, being sure to change liners frequently is the best way to avoid leaks.

Will Lunapanties leak?

As with Lunapads, you need to choose the right product (i.e. do not wear Regular Lunapanties on their own for heavy flow) and change liners frequently to prevent leaks.

I'm pregnant. Why are Lunapanties better than regular underwear for me?

Lunapanties are ideal for moms-to-be. When you're pregnant, you leak quite a bit of discharge all the time, making Luna panties perfect for every day use. Once the baby comes, Lunapanties also come in handy for light post-partum bleeding, and are much softer and less irritating to wear than disposable pads.

Can I wear Lunapanties for incontinence?

We all get a little leaky at some point, let's face it! Many customers have found Deluxe Lunapanties to be a comfortable, economical and discreet solution for light or stress incontinence. Deluxe Lunapanties' nylon lining and removable lining feature provide extra protection and security, but should not be relied upon exclusively for chronic conditions.

How do I know what size to choose?

Please view our Size Chart to help you decide what size will work best for you. Lunapanties are 100% cotton and will shrink slightly in the washing process, so if you're in between two sizes, please choose the larger one.
